In reading about partnering with students, teachers need to be flexible in teaching and open to new ideals from the students in the classroom. That partnering with students can sometimes be uncomfortable due to fear unexpected of return from the students, that many teachers (including myself) think if not in complete control of the classroom it can be chaos. If the teachers set the rules and expectations at the beginning of the year or semester stand firm to rules there is less chaos. In the reading the chapters from Prensky, and being the on-line facilitator for this particular chapter that partnering with students is not easy process for the teacher and for the student. That student are used to told what to do in class and not asked for their thoughts or opinions about the curriculum or assignments.
