I agree with you that as teachers, we need to continue to teach students how to use the tools in the classroom such as the computer to learn to write papers. Many times we as teachers think that students know to use to the computer to write paper and use the different tools that a student have access to on Microsoft Word. I agree with you not all school districts have access to technology but as teachers we need to teach students about technology and introduce to the technology. Many students have access smart phones or have students to partner with other students that smart phone in order to technology in the classroom. I believe that using technology in the classroom will keep the students interest in the classroom instead of using the traditional teaching standards.

Using Google Earth and Google Form is something that can be very useful in the class. Using Google Earth is something as a Social Studies Teacher can be used in describing different areas to students during a lesson in which it can bring reality to the classroom because sometimes in giving presentations to students can be boring. When partnering with students and having students to do a presentation about certain area, students can use Google earth to help with the presentation instead of using just photos of area they can use google earth. In using Google Form it can help used for students to rate different lesson anonymously to provide immediate feedback to the teacher. I can be used to rate anonymously an individual work within group to help with a student individual grade.

In reading about partnering with students, teachers need to be flexible in teaching and open to new ideals from the students in the classroom. That partnering with students can sometimes be uncomfortable due to fear unexpected of return from the students, that many teachers (including myself) think if not in complete control of the classroom it can be chaos. If the teachers set the rules and expectations at the beginning of the year or semester stand firm to rules there is less chaos. In the reading the chapters from Prensky, and being the on-line facilitator for this particular chapter that partnering with students is not easy process for the teacher and for the student. That student are used to told what to do in class and not asked for their thoughts or opinions about the curriculum or assignments.

animoto
I really like animoto. I thought was it was really easy to use and user friendly. I like the fact that you could use photos and put music to it. That is something at a teacher can use at the beginning of the lesson to get the students attention. That is something that a teacher could use in their to have students to do for a fun lesson about their family.

Question 1 (Ch. 5): In relation to a favorite/exemplary lesson or unit you like to teach, describe your process of creating guiding questions you would use for the lesson, and what are some of the more detailed incremental or supporting questions for the lesson?
In putting together a lesson that I would use guiding question, I would have the class read the chapter about what are discussing (ex. WWII). I would have class divide into groups that were randomly drawn by the teacher in order for students to work out outside their clicks in and outside the class. I would the class some guiding questions such as: Why did the United States did not originally want to engage in World War II and I have the groups use the internet and use the text to support their answers. I would allow the class to present to the class either by video casting and using prenzi or power point. As Marc Prensky pointed out that is important that students to understand what they are learning and why their learning (p. 92).
As a partnering teacher, what will be the roles of technology in your classroom? What can you do as a partnering teacher if there is no access or limited access to technology in the classroom or school?
In being a partnering teacher with my future students and using technology, I think it is important that a teacher use technology because many students are using technology outside the classroom. I think as a teacher you should embrace students to use the technology in class and use it responsible. If I work in school that have limited technology I would embrace that students use their smart phone and have students work in groups and make sure that is least one student have a smart phone and ask the school what resource are available this is what Prensky, would recommend that partnering teachers strive to familiarize with as many tools as possible (p. 108).

I really like your ideal about having the students do the research about the subject and then have the students read from the book. I think that would give students a better insight from the research and give the students more talking points during the group discussions. After the class had the chance to discuss the subject and research the subject on smart phones and or computers, I think myself as the teacher I could summarize what was discussed from the class and bring any thoughts that I believed the students have missed. Until the students really learn how to think critically sometimes students can miss on discussion points.
In randomly selecting students for groups, I received that idea from another class I took. Many times as teacher you see the students select group either with their friends or pick the smartest person in class in order to receive a high group. This gives students an opportunity to get to know other students in class.

Name three ways to use social network in class? What are some the Challenges?
How I would use social network in the in order to enhance the learning for students, I would set a facebook page for the class to in order list upcoming assignments. Many times students may forget an assignment is coming up quickly it would be a reminder. I would use facebook to post youtube videos that maybe relate to the subject that is being discussed in class. I would use the facebook page in order to allow parents to see what being discuss and in order to open dialogue between the parents and myself as the teachers. I would encourage students to use facebook page to have an open dialogue about the class or having trouble with an assignment how to complete the assignment. I would set a twitter page for the class to remind students of certain events that is happening in class or if I going to be absent from class I could tell the students of assignment that is needs to done class in order their will no confusion with the substitute about assignments that is due.
Some the problems that a teacher could face in using social network in the classroom, is that the school may block certain social network and that students may not access in the school. One of the biggest challenges that a teacher could face outside of the class is that some students may not have access to a computers or internet. That could put some students at disadvantage that do not access to social network on continuous bases.

In patterning in the classroom now is very important and more important then the past. Students in the past would come to class and listen to the teacher literature and then take a test and see how information they retained from the literature. Now students are no longer just interested in hearing a teacher literature over material, if a teacher is just lecturer then the students are easily bored and lose interested in the classroom. Now students’ wants to know why they are taking this class and what are they supposed to get out the class. Students can easily lose interest in the class and thus the teacher needs to keep the students engaged in the class. How the teachers can keep the students interested and keep the students motivated in the class is by patterning with the students and keep the subjects relevant in today world. Ask the students how do the subject that is being discussed in the class and how can you compare something in today’s world.
In doing Prezi in class I learned a simpler way in doing power point presentation. It is a lot easier to add information and user friendly. In doing power point presentation in the past I found it was difficult to understand how to use power points. In using Prezi, I believe it is very easy to add and subtract things by colleagues or students that could be working on the same project. I think it would great to use in class and for students to use in class that are working on project that could be assignment by the teachers. In using prenzi, I think it would be great to use to in class because with prenzi a teacher add different things on any one slides such as adding a youtube video. I think it enhance the class experience and keep students interest in the class.

In reading about Patterning in the classroom and the different levels of patterning, I think it very important in today classroom that teachers work with students because students can be disengaged in the classroom. Students in the past did not challenge the curriculum but know students can challenge the curriculum and challenge the teachers. Teachers need to find different way to keep students involved in order to get the student buy in the classroom. Students need to be felt involved in the classroom. I think it is important that the students think at a critical level and not just at a linear level.
I really learned about this ideal of patterning in one my classes that I took last semester. I think patterning this way in classroom is gives the students more ability to express their ideals and it allows other students in the classroom to gain a different perspective. In additional it gives me as a teacher a way to get to know the students and find way they think a certain way. It challenges me as teachers to open my mind to different ideals and perspectives in life. In being a future teacher, I have learned there no right or wrong answers but perspective why things happen. It helps develops students to have a more critical way of thinking not just a linear way thinking. I think students will be more engaged in the classroom due to fact I am making them think at a higher level.

podcasting
Podcasting and Vodcasting
I think that podcasting and Vodcasting can be very useful in classroom if used right
by the teacher. A teacher can Vodcast their lesson and put on to
ustream for class to view later. For
math teacher could video himself/herself on the step by step process to solve
math problems. Some math students may
forget the process in solving problems or get confused on how the teacher
solved problems in class.
In
myself being a future history teacher I can record myself in class a put the
lesson on podcast if the students missed some notes in class. Prior to test I could the vodcast the major
topics that will cover on test and allow the students to view vodcast at
home.
Video streaming by Ustream
Climate in classroom
Describe your “climate control”, in your classroom? What is control to you? How do you need to change your “control” according to our text?
Climate control in the classroom according to text is having a control chaos in the classroom in which the students are not necessary sitting at desk during the whole class period but up moving around in class. The teacher needs to make sure the students are working on the assignments and not talking socially in the class students can get easily side track if working in groups with their friends. In controlling the classroom, the teachers needs to make sure the students are on appreciate websites if using the computers in the class or library or using cell phones in classroom. How to control the classroom according the text, you as a teacher you let the student learn by themselves and you as a teachers give the students the goals and the objectives.

Guadalupe Estrada, Clarissa O’Connor, Erica Vasquez, and I made a presentation on “blogs” in Saturday’s class. Tell us what you thought — what did we do well, what suggestions do you have to help us improve, what do you still want to know about blogs?
I think one thing that you guys could have done better in the presenation is do a sample blog from the beginning to the end to show the class how to create a blog and how to publish the blog to the rest of the class. One thing that went well in the presenation the teachers walk around the class and to make sure the students are on the right path in creating the blogs. Another thing that i like in the presenation the teachers had exercise for the students to do in the class in creating blogs and how to use blogs in the classroom.
